When are you going? Interlaken and Grindelwald are both beautiful and close to Zurich. I would try to work that into your itinerary, even if you just drive through.

Grace, Skip Zurich on the arival. The train station is in the air terminal and it is only 1:15 to Luzern. The hotel in Luzern is named Wilden Mann.

Hi,

I second Bob, skip Zurich on the arrival. You should add this night to Geneva. One night stays are not reasonable in my opinion. Choose the route via Bruenig-Interlaken-Gstaad-Montreux from Lucerne to Geneva. You will see great mountain/lake scenery. For Zurich check ***Hotel Scheuble (their web site www.scheuble.ch was out of order yesterday) or, if this is in your budget ****Hotel Storchen (ask for rooms to the river). www.zurichtourism.ch

Ingo

Hi Grace, any chance you can fly into Zurich and out of Geneva? Or vice versa? J.

It you're looking for mountains, skip the big cities of Geneva and Zurich. When I traveled to Switzerland in May 2001 I used Interlaken as a base camp and then took day trips to Grindelwald/Murren/Jungfrau on one day, Luzern on another, then a took the ferry to Thun on the third day. It was much better to leave the luggage at the hotel, otherwise you'll be forced to pack up and move every day. In May we couldn't ski, so we enjoyed traveling on the trains, funiculars, and ferries. If you have time, take the panoramic train from Interlaken to Montreux, it is lovely and it's covered on the Swiss Pass.
