The highest concentration of three starred Michelin restaurants in the world is in the area surrounding San Sebastian. I´d check www.maribelsguides.com for detailed info on this area. In any case, Getaria is a must, with Elkano for excellent fresh fish as nowhere else.

My comments to stay three nights/two days in SS were in no way a comment about that city. But there is great food throughout the region that the OP plans to visit and I think she can get the flavor of SS in that amount of time, and then move on to other great meals...she has a lot of ground to cover in a limited amount of time.

There is always a rivalry between the Basque and Galician seafood. So who has the freshest fish? Who can tell?

Michelin food is undersized and I am sure Mike can confirm eat where the locals eat--- a packed house is always a good sign.

Glad you have settled your plans, enjoy Spain.

ribeira, I think that the seafood is better in Galicia (colder waters) and that fish is better in the Basque Country (at least, the way we cook it, less done than in Galicia and in a simpler but tastier way). Or course, my opinion may be a bit biased...

Yes, there´s no need to go to a Michelin starred restaurant to have the meal of your life in the Basque Country, where good food is our religion. Check maribelsguides.com for excellent info on good restaurants.
