It wouldn't be reasonable for me after a flight from Australia (I used to live there). Keep in mind that one night is only one full day and with only two nights in Vienna at the start of your trip, you might spend your one and only day in a jetlag fog.

It takes awhile to sort out things in a new place - and that can eat into your time. Even if you're prepared and know what you want to do and how you want to do it in a new place, it takes time to sort out the logistics and get your feet underneath you so to speak.

Hallstatt is closer to Salzburg than to Prague - it'll take you 6.5 hours to get to Hallstatt from Prague by public transport, and about 2.5 from Salzburg (you don't mention how you plan to get around).

Salzburg to Munich is easy - there are something like 38 trains a day the the journey takes less than two hours.

I think Prague is the outlier here. I think you'll have a much more relaxed trip if you delete Prague and just spend more time in Austria and Munich.

Hi, welcone!

Short answer: no, not reasonable.

Have you researched thr time it takes to travel from point to point? Have you planned on things you want to see and how long it takes to see them?

Two nights in a place nets you one full day sight seeing. So, only spending two nights in say, Vienna, nets you, one jet lagged day. Vienna is huge and there is a lot to see/do.

You have not considered how long it takes to do basic logistics: border control, getting to city from airport, checking into lodging, etc. A half day is eaten up by all of that. And it is eaten up each time you move and change llocations. Timebin transit as well as logistics of either parking or train station to lodging takes up time.

Your time in Salzburg is probably the most reasonable. It was more than I would have needed, personally. But based on advice by many here, it is the only city on this list where you are giving some valuable time in. Prague is slightly better than 2 nights, but I'd want 3 full days in Prague, so 4 nights.Munich is also grossly short-changed, especially if you also plan on day trips out of it, as many do, and also presumably, one of those days is gone by needing to go to the airport for your flight home. I'm not even going to mention Hallstatt....!

The biggest advantage you have here is the time of year you're planning, it should not be quire as crowded as say, July and August. But the days could get shorter and you may have rainy or chilly weather to contend with as well.

Check out seat61.com for all things trains and public transport.

One thing: have the mods remove the trip report tag.

Correction - two nights is only one full day! Didn't have a chance to edit as post went into moderation.
