Advance Louvre Tickets

My wife (to be) and I are headed to Paris in November for our honeymoon and would like to know if there's a good website out there that sells advanced Louvre tickets. We will also be working our way to Florence so I'm curious also about the Uffizi and 'Accademia. Any insight as to the ease, practicality or need of such a purchase would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance...love this site!

If you are going to Paris for your honeymoon, you will probably want to see more than the Louvre and should consider a museum pass. As of last month a one day pass was 80FF and a 3 day 160FF per person. The Louve is 45FF, Orsay 39FF, Arc de Triompe 35FF, Versailles 45FF and the Grand Trianon 25FF, Notre dame towers 30FF and Sainte Chapelle 32FF, just to name a few. The pass lets you avoid the lines purchasing tickets, unless you have another reason for wanting the advance purchase it should do the trick. I think they do have a web site if you do on search on Fodors for more information. We used it last month and it was great to avoid the lines.

<BR>Hi Tim <BR> <BR>Here are websites on the museum pass and on just Louvre tickets. The museum pass site explains which sites it is good for. I've also included sites regarding <BR>advance museum tickets in Florence. <BR> <BR>www.intermusees.com/ museum pass <BR>www.ticketweb.com Louvre tickets <BR>www.louvre.fr Louvre tickets <BR>http://mistral.culture.fr/louvre/ The Louvre web site <BR> <BR> <BR>www.museionline.com museums all over Italy <BR> <BR>There is no requirement to order tickets in advance by paying a service charge. You can call the reservation office at the Uffizi; their number is 39 (0)55-294883. They will ask you what day and time you want and will give you <BR>a reservation number which you must have when you claim your ticket at the museum. It doesn't cost anything extra (except of course for the phone call). They speak English. <BR> <BR>website for buying advance tickets to museums in Florence: <BR>www.waf.it/museires.htm <BR>www.arca.net/florence.htm <BR>www.arca.net/db/musei/uffizi.htm Uffizi web site <BR>www.italink.com/end/egui/hogui.htm Florence museums <BR> <BR> <BR>If you would like my trip notes on Paris or Florence, feel free to email me. <BR>Congratulations.

I wouldn't bother buying Louvre tickets in advance. I was there this morning, and I waited in a ticket line for about 60 seconds. Here are a few tips: (1) if possible, go on an off-day (i.e. Wednesday, Thursday or Friday); (2) get there right when it opens (9am), or go late afternoon; (3) don't enter through the Pyramid -- instead, take the Metro to the Palais Royal stop, exit at the far end of the platform where it says "direct access to museum," and enter through the underground mall (Carrousel du Louvre). In November, you shouldn't have too much of a problem with crowds.

For Florence, your hotel can take care of advance reservations for you, and you can pick them up when you visit the Uffizzi. Advance reservations aren't needed for the Accademia.
