Sorry everyone for the delayed response, I stopped getting notifications for posts to this thread. We've settled on northern Italy (Dolomites region) for about 10 days. We will be flying into Zurich and are open to suggestions in southern Switzerland, western Austria, and western Slovenia Looking for hikes less traveled, backpacking trips (limited to a couple days, not looking to do the alta via hikes. Also up for less traveled via ferratas, caves, peaks to climb, hidden attractions, etc. We are going the beginning of August and I do understand that is peak time so "isolation" is relative. We are generally inactive during peak hours (middle of the day) we usually travel overnight, hiking for sunrise/sunset/overnight to get to our desired locations.

I think people are just looking for a guide for additional suggestions. since continental France does not have jungles (but you might want to visit the French region of Guiana), kayaking trips last a day at most, and just about all of the glaciers have melted.

You might be happy in the gorges of Kakuetta on the Spanish border: The Gorges of Kakuetta | Any Port in a Storm
