Accommodations on drive to Sicily?
My daughter & I are driving from Salerno to Sicily next June and want to stay one night somewhere along the drive down. Any recommendations? Thanks in advance!

Hi groovesister,
rather than drive all that way, have you thought about getting the ferry?
Have a look here - you'll see there's a ferry from Naples to Palermo [and one to Catania as well I think]

Beb - I'm sure you mean well, but advertising is not allowed on Fodors. perhaps you have a neighbour with a B&B?

There is also a ferry from Salerno to Messina every day. http://www.carontetourist.it/v2.6_en/
The highway from Salerno to Villa San Giovanni is still under construction and this is a little dangerous.
Yes, I have a B & B but I am in this forum because I want to give tourist information and make assitance. Regards, Giuseppe

Hi, Giuseppe,
that is obvious and it's greatly appreciated. there is nothing like having a local on board.
the reason I mentioned the ban on advertising was not to grumble at you, but to inform, in case you inadvertently got deleted by the moderators, which would be a great pity.
i'm looking forward to reading more of your valuable contributions, as I am vey interested in visiting Sicily some time soon.
