accommodations in Budapest

Looking for moderate accommodations in Budapest. We have no problem with hostels or budget lodging. A nice bed and breakfast would do also. We just want to be in the center of the city. Thanks for any help. Vicki

Hi Vicki, its not in the middle of the city, but has a great view of the city with very frequent bus service to the Metro. I stayed in a private flat with a Dr. Fleps, a retired chemist. They are on the Buda side and I used the metro to go everywhere. If you are interested email me for details.
Budapest is one of my favorite cities in Europe with a lot to do and see.
Regards
Art

In the center of Pest you will have a hard time finding anything under $100. per night. [which I would describe as the middle of "moderate"]
On the Buda side the Kulturinov is a bit less I think -- and it's easy to get from the center on the "varbus" and metro.

My choice is Hotel Victoria - around $100 USD -- on the Buda side but five minutes from the chain bridge and the funicular to castle hill as well as 8 or so minutes from Bathyanyi Ter metro stop on the red line.

We stayed at the Victoria also and liked it though it is really not center which would be the Pest side. Elderhostel and one of our friends stayed at the Corwin which is in Pest and cheaper than the Victoria. They all liked it and said it had a great breakfast. I know it is on the internet.

We stayed at the Bestwesten Hotel Art, which has a great location. It was about $80.00/night with a good buffet breakfast. The hotel was clean on a very quiet side street.

We stayed in an apartment in the center of Pest. The Varga sisters own several apartments that they rent for very reasonable costs. Our apartment was a studio, in a great walking location and close to the public transportation. It was small, but clean with ample hot water, small kitchen, ample hot water and comfortable beds. The rate was about $40 a night. Their e-mail address is [email protected]
