Accommodation Saint George beach Naxos
Currently going around in circles looking at all the choices of accommodation around the Saint George/Agios Georgios area.
We plan to stay 5 nights mid September next year for our 35th wedding anniversary. It will be our first time to Greece and we will fly to Naxos from Athens.
Our priority is a beautiful view for instant relaxation - a room with a direct view of the water and a balcony overlooking the beach. We would prefer the quieter area of the beach or on the prettiest stretch of sand and don't mind a longer walk into town. Our budget is around 120 Euro/night.
Based on other advice on this forum, I have emailed Villa Naxia to enquire about rates but had no reply as yet. Hotel Galaxy also looks good and Naxos Dream Studios gets very good reviews and looks lovely but I think that is very close to town so perhaps a busier area and also has no water view.

All the hotels at Saint George beach have a walk into Naxos town no longer than 10 minutes.
Hotels on the beach would be Nisakki probably the most expensive hotel. Next best is boutique hotel Glaros. Its small family run and probably the best high end value on the beach. Naxos resort beach hotel is 100 meters from the beach with views of the beach from the pool. Hotel Galaxy is a high end hotel but it is 100 meters from the beach but is priced as if it were on the beach.
Don't expect any response from your inquiries until January. The Greek hotel owners have worked 18 hour days since May and are now taking their own holidays. They will concentrate on 2018 sometime in January.
An absolute overlooked hotel way below your price range is Hotel Kymata. Its 100 meters back from the beach from Glaros and Nissaki but its third floor rooms have a balcony with 180 degree sea views all the way from St
George to the ferry port.

We stayed at Studios Naxos in St. George Beach. More of a budget-friendly accommodation but the studio we had included a separate kitchen, table, chairs, sofa, all pots, pans, dishes, coffee maker, hot water heater, utensils, etc.
It had TWO bathrooms, one with a shower, one with toilet/sink.
Good size bedroom with French doors opening to a good-size balcony overlooking St. George Beach, coastline and just meters to the beach.
Lots of other options but we found Studios Naxos perfect for budget-minded travelers.

We've stayed at both Nissaki and Galaxy. We preferred Nissaki, but just an FYI: While it has some suites/rooms that overlook the water, that part of the sea is what I'd call a "toddler beach", very shallow water that can be brackish at times, so not the prettiest section for sure.
Galaxy was only OK. I don't know if it was because we were there almost at the end of the season, but the owners just weren't that friendly, and our AC never worked well, so we had a couple of sleepless nights.

Thanks for your replies and suggestions. Villa Naxia did email me back but only have availability for 2 of our 5 nights. Nissaki is out of our price range so I am assuming Glaros (who dont give rates on website) is as well. We are now looking at Hotel Galaxy (although I have taken into consideration your view Weadles) and the more budget priced Villa Naxos and Kymata.
The research and review reading continues....

You might expand your search to look for hotels at Agia Anna. It doesn’t have the advantage of an easy walk into Naxos Town, but the beach is much better there, and you can easily walk to Plaka and Agios Prokopios beaches. There are frequent buses back to town, taking about 15 minutes.
Fact is, there aren’t many hotels directly on the beach, and the good ones that are will be expensive. I never spend much time in my hotel room, so sea view isn’t important to me. I stay at a hotel in St George that is one street back from the beach. It doesn’t have views, but the hotel is clean and comfortable, and very reasonably priced.

I did start with the thought we would stay at Agia Ana or Agios Prokopios but from what I have read on this forum, things start to shut down mid Sept and we actually arrive on Sept 22 (I should have said late Sept rather than mid Sept in my initial post)
While we are not 'night owls', strolling Chora in the evening sounds lovely especially if things are slowing down from Agios Prokopios on. That is why I thought the Saint George area and then we could bus it to Agia Anna or Plaka for a beach day. We also thought a ferry ride to Delos/Mykonos would be good if it was not too windy so again Saint George sounds the more suitable option.
Plenty of time still to plan though so very open to suggestions...

Yes, you need to compromise one way or the other. My way is to forego the sea views and stay in a St George hotel a street away from the beach.
I too like to stroll around Naxos Town in the evenings, and buses to/from the beach resorts will be less frequent in late September than earlier in the month. Were you to rent a car you could come and go as you please, and factor that into the cost of accommodation. Another compromise...

I think by mid September you will find that Glaros is going to be in your price range. I would choose it any day over Galaxy.
As I mentioned right now the Greek hotel owners are all trying to recover from the summer seasons are not going to be immediately responsive. Just send out your inquiry and be patient, they will get back to you.
We were on Naxos the last few days of September and into October. St George is the place to be. There were lots of people around and everything was open for business.
The west coast beaches were still active but by October third the tavernas were closing for the season and many of the hotels not far behind. Our hotel was only open because we were there. The moment we left they were done.
