Accommodation in Sorrento

Looking for a hotel in Sorrento, close to the city centre, with a pool, great views, and nice room. Oh yeah, and without blowing the bank! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

How much per night before your bank blows up?

I like the hotels along the cliff

Depending on your dates, you might be able to snag a garden-view double at the Grand Hotel Excelsior Vittoria for 350 euros. Gorgeous, classically-furnished, beautiful pool and terraces.

Some seaview rooms at the Bellevue Syrene would be within your budget, but no pool and I'm not crazy about the decor after a somewhat recent renovation. Too contemporary for me. But I love the hotel's location a few blocks farther from the action than the GH Excelsior Vittoria.

The Grand Hotel Tramantano is likely well within your budget (again, depending on dates). No pool but nice outdoor space.

I have stayed at the bellevue syrene, nice rooms, ours had a balcony with a beautiful view, nice breakfast room with the most beautiful view. 5-10 minutes walk to city center

I'd suggest you the Bellevue Syrene, because it offers a private beach, complimentary snack and drinks throughout the day and of course breakfast!

I have just booked La Favorita. It is #8 on trip advisor, was recently renovated and has a huge roof top pull, and in walking distance to the centre. I had a friend who just got back from staying there and loved it.

www.hotelantichemura.com This hotel is so easy to reach from the train station with luggage. A few hundred yards, all downhill. Richard

karenchic, the Grand Hotel La Favorita is not on the cliff but in a good location just a couple of blocks inland from the Bellevue Syrene and Tramantano. The reviews on Tripadvisor.com are uniformly very positive, and the views (at least from the pool) are terrific.

Another 4-star hotel just off the cliff that has a pool is the Continental Hotel which is next door to the Bellevue Syrene. Warning: If you search on maps.google.com, they have its location switched with the Bellevue Syrene.

Forget the cliff--you have great views from Favorita--go for it.

bobthenavigator, have you stayed at Favorita? I narrowed my choices down to Favorita and Tramantano- anyone know about the rooms at either? I see the pics, but just wondering if anyone has stayed there?

No, but I was there last month and noted the hotel as a place I may stay next time.

I recommend the Excelsior Vittoria too. It is on the cliff with fantastic views and a private elevator down to the Piccola Marina. It is set in lovely grounds, with a pool, but is just off the main square.
