Alison <BR> <BR>I am going to Nice next Friday so have been looking for the last few days. <BR> <BR>There are a fwe recommendations on this site if you seach back under Cote Dazur and French RIviera, including Hotel Welcome in VilleFrance and Hotel la Flore in Nice. <BR> <BR>I have chosen Le Mas D'Artigny which is a member of Small Luxury Hotels Group and is based in St Paul a short journey out of Nice. <BR> <BR>Here are some invaluable websites: <BR> <BR>http://www.aaacom.com/hotelreservati.../maincadre.htm <BR>http://www.riviera.fr/ <BR>http://www.hotel-la-flore.com/ <BR>http://w3.guideweb.com/provence/indexa.html <BR>http://www.logis-de-france.fr/ <BR>http://www.crt-riviera.fr/ <BR>http://www.eze-riviera.com/emotions/ang/welcome.html <BR>http://www.beyond.fr/ <BR>http://www.slh.com <BR>http://www.chateaux-france.com/ <BR>http://www.relaischateaux.fr/f-world-en.htm <BR> <BR>If you would like any more info on what I have booked please let me know. <BR> <BR>Note that several hotels are closed during November and December, those I have spoken to who will be closed include La Perouse and Chateau D'Eze. <BR> <BR>Good Luck. <BR> <BR>Kavita <BR> <BR> <BR> <BR> <BR>

In September we stayed at the La Flore in Villefrance sur mer. It was wonderful. Two couples shared a quad (2 bedrooms with a shared bath and a terrace on the hill overlooking the harbor). There was a bus stop just next door for a 5 minute bus ride into Nice. Buses and trains ran also to Monte carlo. The staff was friendly and helpful, the restaurant was good and reasonable at the hotel. I think it ran us, without breakfast in total about $150 a night. Considering the view by day and moonlight and convenience it was well worth it. You really felt the beauty and luxury of the Riviera.

We were just there two weeks ago and stayed at the Hotel Gounod, a three star hotel owned and operated by the Hotel Splendid next door, and were very pleased. You can email them directly at [email protected]. Their address is 3 rue Gounod, 06000 Nice. Phone: 04-93-16-42-00. FAX: 04-93-88-23-84. <BR> <BR>Also, a great restaurant, the Barracuda is right down the street. <BR> <BR>Hope this helps.

When we were in Nice, we stayed at "The Star Hotel." Great location, nice room, and charming hosts; George and Francoise Horowitz. It was very clean and the hosts were friendly and helpful. The hotel was recommeded by Rick Steves and he has the fax number in his book. The price was EXTREMELY reasonable.
