Accommodation in Cochem

I am planning a 2 night stay in Cochem in September.

There are loads of websites showing 3+* accommodation but I would rather like to gather some info from people who have stayed either in a nice place which doesn't require to rip the bank.

As we have a car it's not necessary to stay right where the action is.

Maybe a nice winery with rooms or an atmospheric rather small hotel?

Any recommendations?

Thank you in advance.

Hi,

In Oct. '07 we stayed 5 minutes just across the Mosel river from Cochem in Valwig at the Hotel Rebenhof. We'd stay there again. Nice enough place with friendly hosts.

One of my favorite places to stay along the Mosel - Haus Andreas run by excellent hostess Frau Roswitha Pellny.

This was our first stop for our trip [1996]. Stayed three days and loved the hotel. Richard www.alte-thorschenke.de/

Thank you Richard - that also looks great!

Difficult choice...I tend towards either Germania or Thorschenke.

Thank you all again for great responses!

We all as travelers have our own comfort zones and 'banks' but I must confess that the Hotel Keßler-Meyer would probably "rip my bank".

I hope you are going to the burgfest at the castle, as I don't think there is any other reason to go. great entertainment, a little tacky but in the most wonderful way.

Bavariaben - you are right the K-M is pretty expensive but a friend just stayed there and was blown away by their personal service and friendliness.

They arrange also wine tasting at a special look-out for us incl. a walk to the burg etc. Keeps us busy for the whole day till dinner ;-)

I will report when we get back.

I must say after we have finally swallowed the rate we are all looking forward to that experience!
