Accomadation in Budapest

Hallo Everyone

I urgently need some information about recommended accomadation in Budapest. I am looking for possible private accomadation/pensions which are recommendable in either the Pest or Buda side of the river. I also would like to know if someone know the Fortuna Hotel in Budapest. Any help / advice will be gladly accepted.

Regards
Dolf Jordaan

Try to have a look at the Lonely Planet guide for Budapest. We found theinfomration incredibly good and useful.

Hi, Dolf!

My wife and I just stayed at the Hotel Ibis Centrum. It is on the Pest side, right near the metro stop: Kalvin ter.

We found it very accommodating, great buffet breakfast -- fairly new.

Look for them on the web. I do not have their email address. We used them as part of a package.

Hope this is helpful.

Bob

I don't know what you want to spend a night but we really liked the Hotel Victoria on the Buda side. It was written up in the New York Times and it was a very good choice of a 4 star hotel much cheaper than the American chains. The location is on the Danube near the Chain Bridge. We made reservations through the internet by e-mail and they were wonderful to deal with. It is very small, only about 22 rooms and a good breakfast room. Near all kinds of restaurants and not far from a main subway system and right near the tram.

To Dolf:
In response to your inquiry for accommodation in Budapest, my husband and I have a beautiful l8th century Villa with several suites that are of 5 star quality for only $40.00 US per night. We are located in a touristy area within a few minutes walk to the Danube River and many ammenities nearby. Our website is www.gobudapest.net and my e mail is [email protected]. Would love to have you as our guests.

My complaint with the Victoria was that we booked it about 10 months before we went. They required a 50% deposit which we did with credit card. But in the 10 month period before we got there their currency had so changed then when we checked out they insisted on nearly 75% more for the entire bill. The looked at what we had paid 10 months earlier and converted it to the current exchange rate and said we still owed them X amount. It was a rip-off, pure and simple.
