Geo--happens to me alot, too, when trying to access the Fodor's web site, not just the forum. The AOL people say it means the site is busy. But maybe it has something to do with AOL, too, since you also use AOL. I think it only happens with this site with me, too. I am usually on line early on weekday mornings, which probably isn't a busy time. One Sunday afternoon I tried to get on Fodor's site and never could.

Same thing happens to me and I'm not on AOL. I just assumed it meant Fodors site is busy.

"Unknown Host" would most often indicate your ISP's Domain Name Server (DNS) is not functioning properly if you can't reach Fodors, or other 'known valid' sites.

Usually this is transient and the problem will disappear if you try again immediately. Sometimes it takes a try or two.

I have the same problem all the time. In fact, just a minute ago. If you open your MS Internet Explorer browser and go to Fodor's, it works almost all the time. If you're using Windows 98, there should be a blue "e" icon to the right of your start button, or you can find the program icon and copy it there (from the start menu, for example).

I also have this problem only with Fodor's, and I've found a way to get around it, but it might sound weird. Usually I enter "www.fodors.com" but when I get that message, I enter "fodors.com" (leaving off the www) and it goes right through. Does this actually make any sense or is it coincidental?KK
