Abbaye Notre-Dame de Sénanque
Hello travelers! I've seen this Abbey in so many photos with the lavender in bloom out front and it's so picturesque. I'll be in the area visiting Gordes in May 2022. I read recently that tourists were taking lavender as souvenirs and were trampling on the lavender and damaged it so the Monks plowed over the lavender fields and planted wheat instead. Is that true? And if so, is it still pretty with wheat fields in front instead? I'm thinking in May the wheat will still be young and green. Does anyone by chance have any pics of what it looks like now? Appreciate nay input. Merci!

The lavender field still figures prominently on their website:

I've been there 5 times, the last in 2018 when the field looked scraggly. When lavender plants get old they are torn out and new plants put in. Even if it's still lavender, it won't be in bloom in May. In my experience, it doesn't start blooming until middle/late June into July.

Thanks everyone for the updates. We decided we'll definitely make a point to stop by here. I was aware the lavender won't be in bloom in May but it will still look pretty w the field of green out front. Can't wait to see it!
