not out of the way for me, volcrew!

but I agree that it's out of the way for the OP.

But lets remember we've been to Cornwall (& loved it).

So many suggestions for Brecon and no-one mentioned HAY ON WYE -- "book capital of the world" -- I love it. The town has a great web site listing all accommodation in the town and surrounding area.
Nearest train station I think is Hereford.

Annhig, yep, I know you, as a resident, are a Cornwall advocate!

anyone who decided to spend the last week or so here have been VERY lucky. the weather has been exceptionally warm for the time of year, and the gardens are looking fantastic.

who could not be an advocate for that?

This is too funny...I was just scrolling through your post and was thinking Brecon Beacons as well...then realized that I'm pretty sure it was me who referred you to Brynhir Farm a few years ago! Why not go back? It was such an idyllic place. Cheers and happy planning!

Ann, how I wish I could be in Cornwall right now after the week we've had here in Michigan - cold, snow, ice, and now mud!

I forgot to add the 'new' rough plan is,

Dh & I will drive from London & spend thur/fri nights in the Cotswolds, maybe Stow on the Wold, visiting Oxford along the way????

Then collect DD & bf from Cheltanham rail station and all drive to Conwy-Wales together, taking all day if we like. Have sat/sun nights in Conwy then drop dd & bf to a train up there somewhere and we can spend the next 3 days heading back to London.

nice plan, aussie.

you could still head back via the Brecon Beacons, or Shropshire is also a lovely alternative - Ludlow, the Long Mind, Shrewsbury...plenty to look at in 3 days.

Hausfrau- i wish you could be here too. looks like another glorious day. DH and I are going to the NT garden in Penzance - Trengwainton - to see the magnolias and camellias. they are stunning there this time of year.

Snowdonia and Conwy would be a fine choice as well. I loved Conwy castle.

Lovely Ann! Temps still hovering around freezing here, but at least the sun is shining.
