BTW: The 800 years old Glurns, the smallest entirely walled city of Europe (800 inhabitants) lies just a few miles from the famous Müstair monastery. Both can be reached every hr by Swiss Post bus from Zernez in Engiadina Bassa)

neckervd, thank you. I'm looking at Arosa in addition to Engadine, not in lieu of.
Continuing our research, the two viewpoints in the Engadine seem to be Piz Nair and Corvatsch (the Engadine equivalent of the Schilthorn so to speak) - is this a fair representation? Is one more worthwhile than the other?

The Swiss National Park is a aera of 170 km2 where absolutely no human intervention (roads, restaurants, camping sites, other buildings) is allowded The only exception are the transit road from Zernez to Val Müstair, well signmarked and well maintained hiking trails as well as some huts for the park staff.

I met a group of ‘older’ gents from Zug on their annual hiking holiday while on the bus between Zernez and Mustair and they were doing a hike to S-Charl which I visited by bus instead (the easy option) - it may have been something like this
https://www.engadin.com/en/tours/hig...ing-s-charl-lu
....’only 2 hours up and 2 hours down’ one told me. They were in their 70’s and 80’s.

Adelaiden is mentioning a easy and very popular trail (never crowded by far!).
You can hike from S-charl bus stop to either Pass dal Fuorn bus stop or Lü bus stop or even up to the Unesco World Heritage monastery of Müstair (either via Lü or via Cruschetta - Val d'Avigna)..
Midway, you find a tiny basic restaurant at Alp Tamangur Dadaint (open during the season only).
