A Troll by any Other Name

After trying to participate in some discussion here in Fodors, I have been called a "troll". I am wondering what the definition of a troll is, ? someone who hides under bushes, someone resembling a dwarf (OPPS, I mean someone who is "vertically challenged"), someone who fishes for a living. Just what is a Troll. I, for my part, do not think that everyone who differs from the norm in opinion should be called names. A troll I am not. I am none of those things you'all have called me, and it makes me MAD.

It leaves a person wondering, could someone be that dumb or ignorant? And of course, there ARE really naive questions here, and one of the ugliest things that happens here is to offend and insult someone who really is incredibly naive.

A master troll perpetually seeks that fine line between "believably dumb" and "incredibly ignorant" and hopes to keep people guessing. And stir up some real ZINGERS for answers!

A master troll also mixes in esoteric scholarly clues, to an in crowd, curious to see who will pick up on them also.

===============================

By these criteria, many people will label the "fat thread" about Mrs. Fields' cookies as the cause of being squished in airline seats as very "troll-ish".
Who cares what makes you mad. I don't know if you are real or a variety of people have used your name but you have a history of obnoxious posts that serve no purpose and are kind of stupid, on top of being obnoxious.

Sandi:

Instead of trying to tell us who you are Not...try telling us who you really are? Where have you been? What would you like to contribute to a travel talk forum...you know, definition, goal and purpose? That thought process goes along way even on the internet...

What Christina is saying rings true for some of what I have read from you. If you want to avoid the TROLL TAG then review what you have written and objectively try and decide if YOU can better represent who you really are.

Maybe you are not a Troll but if that is the worst you have been called on these boards then count yourself lucky, move on and start travelling!

Happy Travels
Oaktown
