thank you for posting. What a treat. Enjoyed reading your report and the pics. We've been to Val Gardena and were blown away by the beauty of the Dolomites and always had plans to go back. Bookmarking your report for a future trip.

Hi ms_go,
I'm wondering which area you liked better, Val Gardena or Val di Fassa? I referenced your trip report to Val Gardena extensively when we travelled there in 2016. Thank you, BTW. We're looking to return this June, but thinking about trying a new area. It looks like Val di Fassa is, as they say in Thailand, "same same but different." Thoughts? Thanks!

Hi pasqualino! Tough question. I'm not sure I have a good answer, as I liked them both. They do have similarities. And they really aren't that far apart, so you can hike in both. Maybe a better question is, if I went back, which would I pick? I think Val di Fassa. I Ioved staying in the small town of Vigo for the reasons mentioned above, and I felt like we left some good hiking on the table. But we've also thought about basing in the Alta Badia for our next trip to the Dolomites - which won't be this year (we're going to Switzerland later in the summer, hopefully) but soon. I probably haven't helped, have I?
