A specific hotel in Paris
Has anyone ever stayed at the Hotel Caron de Beaumarchais in the Marais district? I would like to have some feedback on this establishment . . . was it nice, clean, easily accesible to major sites, etc.
Please advise.
Thanks in advance.
Marilyn

While I haven't stayed there, it was in my top two on my trip to Paris last year.(took the Familia instead and loved it there!) It looks like a clean, comfortable hotel. It was in a great location in the Marais, walking distance to the Louvre (if you like to walk), and Notre Dame. Close to the Bastille as well. Based on what I saw, I would recommend it.

Hi Marilyn,

Yes, I stayed there this May for 6 nights. It is a wonderful hotel and I was very pleased with everything. The price was 810ff and it converted to just under $120. We had a 2nd story room with a little balconey. The room we stayed in was done in yellow and blue, and felt very French. It did have a make-up mirror, a mini fridge, and a safe down stairs. I really enjoyed the soaps and fluffy robes. Infact, they gave me a few extra soaps because I said how wonderful they were. The staff spoke good English and will help you in any manner. The hotel is small, safe, and quiet, and that is what I wanted. It was close to Notre Dame and we walked past that a lot coming and going. The metro is a few blocks and the bus stop is very close. The restaurants in the area were great and I enjoyed the neighborhood. We did eat in little bakeries every morning. We ate at the hotel once and it was good. I would definetley reccommend it and hope to go back one day.

Thanks to these 2 great replies!
Sondra -- Do you happen to remember the names of the bakeries that you ate at, or where exactly they were located. Since the Hotel Caron de Beaumarchais doesn't offer any sort of breakfast deal, I would love to know of a place in advance of my trip to Paris.
Thanks.

Marilyn,

We stayed at the Caron de Beaumarchais in 1998. It is a great little hotel. Besides other tourist attractions already mentioned, it is near the charming Ile St.Louis. Fine restaurants, shops on each side of its main boulevard. You can walk across it on your way to Notre Dame. Also, it is located in the Marais District, a kind of SOHO atmosphere, nice little museums, etc.

We had breakfast served in our room and it was very good. The proprietor, Alain, is friendly, hospitable and professional.

Anthony
