A Paris-MSM trip "inside" a RT flight to London?

We wanted to take a 16 day trip to London, Paris, MSM and Normandy beaches, flying open jaw into LON and out of CDG. In our searching, we found a great RT fare to London that would SAVE about $1200 for our group of 4. We're now thinking we can arrive LON, spend 4 days in the countryside, Eurostar to Paris, have an 8 day stay in France, and return to LON to spend our final couple of days there. Is such an itinerary crazy? Husband and I have visited Paris multiple times, so we're not worried about shortchanging a Paris visit (it would be the first visit for our kids (who were toddlers at the time of our last visit and thus don't remember it).

Normally I'd doopen jaw even if it was a little more expensive.

But $1200 is nothing to sneeze at. London > Paris/Normandy > London isn't all that crazy. And you could always take a ferry back to England.

But another option would be to fly into London and the same day fly straight on to Paris. Stay your 7 or 8 days, Eurostar back to London and spend the rest of your time in the UK. This would give you one less pack/travel/unpack day.

Have you checked Eurostar rates? I'm looking at doing an Open jaw LDN-CDG, taking Eurostar over. It is ~$150 one way, one person.

Michel, have you checked round trip prices? Sometimes they are lower than one-way. If that is the case, you could buy round trip and only use the first segment.

Have you tried telling www.eurostar.com you're in the UK? Some singles are as low as £39. But you do pay more for greater flexilibity, for booking at the last minute and for the more business-friendly travel times.

ehs, I don't think your plans are crazy but would be sure the Eurostar or flight fares to Paris and back don't cancel out the savings on your RT flights to London.

Your trip sounds wonderful -- have a great time!
