A night in Cork-good idea?

Is spending a night in Cork a waste of time? Should we just go on to Kinsale for two nights? We will be coming from Waterford and after two nights in the Cork-Kinsale area going on to Killarney. <BR>Latika

Cobh (Cork) is a nice city -- but I much prefer the villages along the coast southwest of there. Great scenery, wonderful fishing villages and farms running down to the beaches.

Don't like Cork. To me it's busy, congested and has nothing much of interest. Cobh with its history during the potato famine is very interesting, but nothing beats Kinsale for charm, wonderful restaurants and good wine.

Just returned from Ireland. Kinsale was wonderful. Went to Man Friday's, it was ok. We really enjoyed the white fish at the White House. There is a hotel in the heart of the village that I heard was wonderful. We stayed at the Danabel just up the hill from the village. It was a lovely place with great beds and bedding. If you have a car, take a ride to the Old Head Golf Course. It is located on the ocean.

I agree, the city of Cork is too industrialized to be worth an overnight stay. I'd either go on to Kinsale or stay a night at Balleymakeigh House a lovely farm B &amp; B, near Youghal which is about half way from Waterford to Kinsale. The proprietess, Margaret Browne is a gourmet cook and dinners and breakfasts there are very special.
