But from my googling it seems like that is not enough time for him to complete PT and there are also cautions about long plane trips so soon after major surgery. Of course he says he is strong, will be fine, doesn't want to just sit around for so long.

It seems like a few posters to this thread have gone through total knee replacement or it is scheduled. I'm looking for advice on how long a realistic recuperation should take, how long after surgery it's safe to fly, etc. I'd appreciate any guidance.
h is having the same knee surgery at the beginning of December. I would let you know how he is doing although, of course, every case is different.

@joduhl: Your time frame is tighter than I would want, but Id urge you to start your own thread to maximize your input. And of course, rely on your husbands physician for advice.

I replied on your other thread with more detail.
Please do ask the surgeon especially re flying. The risk of DVT is no joke.

I know what a bummer it is to rebook but you are better off dealing with that now. I think your trip is too soon.

I just "discovered" a new place that might be of interest to someone here. It's a rural residence/hotel in the little river town of LA PUEBLA DEL RIO, south of Sevilla.
This is the hotel and it gets really good reviews and looks very good, to me, at least. (Nice pool, among other things!). You'd need a car to stay here, though.

Looks as if it's a half an hour drive from Sevilla and there is at least one restaurant in the town that caught my eye. I wonder if this might be of interest to someone driving south from Sevilla to Sanlucar, or to someone who wants a quiet place (but with dogs) outside Sevilla. The town itself looks typical Andalusian riverine town--flat, but with the white buildings, etc....
(I looked it up after reading the article about home-town hero, Morante de la Puebla, who just retired...or. maybe he will return to the arena....)

I know this does not answer the original question, but thought I'd just mention since it sounds good for someone who has already been to province of Sevilla and looking for a relax in the countryside

Here is the hotel link:

<<<Which is why Morante is different. In April 2023, he was so dazzling in Sevilla that La Maestranza abandoned its usual reserve and awarded him two ears and a tail. Two months later in Madrid, Las Ventas went further: they flung open the Puerta Grande the great gate of honour. No other living matador has received such tributes.>>>>

I read the reviews and a few of them mentioned the doggies!!!

Sombra came to my room every night to sleep, in Vejer. But she's gone now, at the age of 19. So I'm very sad that I will not see her in March.
Sombra in my room with her treats brought from NYC!!

I have been enjoying this thread as it carries on into November.

For Jan 23 to Feb 21, 2026, we have booked a month in Andalucia, and I am having a small problem with deciding on an itinerary. I would appreciate your help. I am adding to what has already been suggested on this thread because I'm hoping the above knowledgable posters will answer (sorry danon)

We have not been in Spain in winter before, but want to get away from the rainy weather where we live. Based on some suggestions in this thread, here is the current itinerary.

Sevilla 5 nights
Cordoba 3 nights
Jerez de la Frontera 5 nights
Vejer 4 nights
Estepona or Marbella 7 nights
Malaga 4 nights

Return to London

So here is what we are thinking. We will rent a car. We want a relaxed trip. Originally I wanted a week in each of 4 places, but then I realized it is Carnaval time, and we want to avoid crowds, so I did some rearranging to avoid Malaga during Carnaval.

Also, I don't want to be in a town that is so seasonal that there is no variety in restaurants/ things to do. We have been to Sevilla and Malaga a number of times but still want to spend some time there.

I did think to do an overnighter from Estepona to stay at Ronda parador for a night, but I read that the highway up to Ronda is closed. Are we going to be bored in Estepona for a whole week? Also, we don't like apartments, but prefer hotels for full service, and the only place I see that I would like to stay in Estepona is a beach hotel, not in the center. Elba Estepona Gran Hotel and Thalasso Spa. Any thoughts on this, and the location. At least it has a spa, which we might enjoy for the down time.

The other option is Marbella, which I am wondering if there might be more variety of restaurants and things to do in Marbella. We have never visited either.

I would appreciate any and all suggestions, thanks in advance.

Hi Natylou,

You actually might repost as a separate thread from Danon's to give you more focused feedback on your proposed itinersry.

Your traveling style " leisurely paced" is much lime ours.
We enjoy 3 to 5 days & returning to our fav spots if we felt we needed more time. Also the relationships with locals deepen & result in great experiences & information. ( But I am very chatty)

That said, 5 days in Jerez MIGHT be too long. UNLESS you will be there during the Jerez Flamenco Festival
https://www.festivaldejerez.es/

Or you are a Sherry wine enthusiast.
Also will you be stopping in Madrid?
