Thanks for your help and suggestions. We were not going to St. Moritz at all since we were there once. We will definitely lookm into Hotel Messer in Guarda. It did look nice. Bob, you thought the food was very average at the hotel. Are there good restaurants in the area?
We will probably have to take a ferry ride to Como a few days before we leave Bellagio to rent a car. We would rather get driven from the airport when we arrive after a long flight and won't need a car for most of our stay in Bellagio.
Does this sound okay and make sense?

You will still have to drive back to Bellagio and find parking--both are not easy. Guarda is small, but we did like a small place about 2 blocks toward the main part of town.

For an excellent driver from MXP to Bellagio: www.davideguerrera.com He will drive you up the peninsula to Bellagio at it's end so no ferry is needed.
We have taken the ferry from Bellagio to Como to pick up our rental cars a few times. It was an easy walk, pulling our luggage along, from the ferry dock to the car agencies. There is a high speed ferry on this route as well as regular ferries.
Last time we were in Bellagio there was a car rental agency but more for day trips. I think they may have been SmartCars.

Happy gives good advice. Might as well get the driver to your hotel. The road from Bellagio to Como is fine. I drove it a few years ago with a couple in their 70s (one of them was the driver) and we had absolutely no trouble.

Happy Trvlr-emailed Davide G for prices. Wanted 180Eu credit card and 160 cash. A lot more than we were told it should be. Anyone else out there have any drivers who would be less expensive but safe, reliable drivers?

when we rent our car, prob in Como a few days before we leave Bellagio, we can park at Serbelloni as we are staying in their apartments. My husband had no trouble with that.
We will probably sat in Guarda at Hotel Meisser instead of Davos. Cute, quaint and a nnice spot to just hang out or hike. From there it says on Google that it is less than 4 hours to Riva Del Garda and a nice day trip if we stop from time to time. We are getting closer to finishing our trip. Thanks for all your good help.

Ask your Bellagio hotel about the prices for the transfer.

I was quoted 160 euro from Menaggio to Malpensa by taxi in 2008.

We ended up driving and it worked out just fine.

When I have booked Davide Guerrero he was always less expensive than other drivers, especially those based in Bellagio. We have also driven to Bellagio from MXP and Lake Maggiore and from Switzerland. No problems.

We normally wouln't mind driving but have no use for a car for at least 5 days. I guess it will be a trade-off, saving money not renting so early and using it to be driven after a very long travel time.
We could do it when we were younger, but the less hastle the better! Thanks for your help

Those driver prices sound right to me. We used Davide in 2009 from Bellagio to MXP for 180E.

Here's a shuttle/van service from Malpensa to Bellagio four times daily for 70 euros (1 person), 50 euros each (2 persons), 35 euros (3-8 persons). Cash only.
