Well it's easy for me to post because i LOVE the idea -lol- i'm a smidge worried about the distance from the train station for lodging but besides that I think this is a BRILLIANT plan!

so, i am back , thank you ALL for the wonderful suggestions, Trip was very well planned. i will be happy to answer any questions but here is the very short version of what we did - day one (arrival) - settled in and took a bus to the lake ( 10 min bus ride) - was a bit cold and raining and we just walked on the boardwalk and took few pics of the sculptures,( had to see monument of Nabokov), Perfect weather from that day forward. The second day - full day trip to Cheese and Chocolate factory visited Ch teau de Gruyères. Third day - Glacier 3000, amazing view, back around 4/5pm and went to the lake again all the way to the Ch teau de Chillon. Next day trip to Speiz ( breakfast) , from there boat to Thun- old city, castle, lunch at the river and a short trip to Bern ( was not impressed but old city was OK ) , Sunday - train to Nyon and boat to Yvoire, Rhone-Alpes, France, stunning. Monday - Glacier expresses from Brig to Chur ( probably the least enjoyable part of the trip mostly due to the bad dinner and extra changes, but this is a different topic). Few hours in Chur - very cute old city, from there took a train to Sargans and bus to Vaduz ( Liechtenstein ) , spent the night at Vaduz. Enjoyed castle and gorgeous city center and one museum, Tuesday - bus back to Switzerland (Sargans) and train to Zurich. Enjoyed the old city and had dinner, Back to Montreux by train ( home around 9 pm) , NExt day Geneva by train and from there to the airport.
