7 days in sicily
My boyfriend and I are planning a trip to Sicily in June. He's not much in to planning, but I want to make sure we don't miss the "must see" things and places, that sicily has to offer. Should we rent a car for local travel? Get a tour guide? Help?!?! thanks!

For what to see and do, check out my web page on our trip to Sicily.

As for renting a car, I recommend it.
Have a great time.

Sicily is large, and a week will only enable you to scratch the surface. A common piece of advice is to choose one are of Sicily and concentrate around that area e.g. Siracusa as a base then explore Noto, Modica, Ragusa , Taormina etc.
I loved the temple complexes at Agrigento and Selinunte in the South /South West of the Island.
There are some excellent threads on this board on Sicily, many of which I used in planning my own trip.

Is your boyfriend not into planning because he doesn't like being dragged from place to place to sightsee? Or does he also want to see a lot, but just doesn't enjoy or have the time to do the research?
If it's the second, it's worth reaching an agreement ahead of time that once you are in Sicily, he won't complain about the choices or mistakes you made if he left everything up to you.
If it's the first -- he doesn't like planned sightseeing -- I suggest you not try to reform him, or you'll end up fighting all the time. Instead, agree ahead of time on a few broad things: Do you want to be in cities or not? Do you want to swim at the beach or not? Do you want to tour ruins and churches at all, and if so, how many per day or per week?
Once you've figured that out, it will be easier to answer questions about how to put together a fun trip that you both enjoy.

I am pretty sure we are going to base ourselves in Palermo, and rent a car for day trips and such. He doesn't like planning at all....more of a go do things on a whim sort of guy. I don't mind so much, but this is going to be a big trip for us, and I want to make sure that we get the full experience.
Thanks for the reply's so far!! They've been great!!
