neckervd's post (which PalQ obviously had had too much of the Dulux White Gloss to read) explains.>

neckervd's post said: <The railway station official who has to give the departure permission to the St. Moritz bound train waits until everybody has changed rains.
It doesn't work the same way in the other direction, however: if the train from St. Moritz arrives at Chur with a delay of more than 10 min, the IC train to Zurich will have left>

not much different than I said - saying the connecting train's passengers would have more than 6 minutes if need be - so that everyone getting off that train need not stampeded to the connecting train say if the first train were a few minutes late, slicing the 6 mins to say 1 min - unlike my experience in Britain the connecting train will wait whereas in the UK if may pull out the same time the other train is coming in.

Of course there is a time limit for connecting trains to not wait - simply because there are so many trains that there will probably be another train within 30 mins or at least an hour.

Classic example of type of silly things I've only seen on British trains -one train I was on actually overshot the platform upon arrival and the PA said since it was illegal or against protocol for that train to back up into the station it had to go on and 'customers wanting to get off at XXXXX need to descent from this train at the next station and take another train back to where they wanted to get off first - incroyable - never seen anything like that!
