5 gals in Rome - where to stay?

Two moms and three teenage daughters will be in Rome for 5 nights mid-June. The ideal situation would be to find rooming for all 5 of us together with one or two bathrooms; an apartment or large suite. Any suggestions?

This may sound nuts, but one of most enjoyable places I ever stayed in Rome was at a Ukranian convent! Clean, comfortable, really cheap, safe, and right next to the Vatican. And they served a great dinner! Unless you go on a Catholic holiday, there shouldn't be any problem getting several rooms next to each other. There was a curfew (something like 10pm) and a few other reasonable house rules.

If you're interested I can dig up the info, but this was back in 1992 when I stayed there so I may not have the info anymore.

There are lots of apartment rental services which you can find by doing a search. I don't know about one that would hold 5 but you might be able to get 2 in the same place. Patrick and others love the Palazzo Olivia. I'm booked into the Palazzo al Velabro, near the Palatine Hotel, which is an apartment hotel, with a front desk so you're not completely on your own.

The Albergo St. Chiara has a few apartments they use for guests. I was there in March with my Mom and Aunt and as a triple, they gave us a suite with a large King bed in one room, a long hall with a bath and a small kitchen (which was kept locked, as we hadn't requested that) and a sitting room with two pull out twin beds. It also had a table and chairs, and a lovely patio with a table and chairs. There was another apartment next door. The St. Chiara is a favorite on this site, and right in the middle of a great area, behind the Pantheon.

You might also take a look at Domus Julia...apartment/suites connected with Hotel Julia, Trevi Fountain area. I haven't stayed there, but I seem to recall there's lots of info over at tripadvisor. I believe breakfast and services are thru the hotel.

What would you think of a large 2 bedroom apartment with 2 sofa beds? All near Campo di Fiori where your group can walk everywhere? I was there last year - fantastic. www.travelworlddiscovery.com

LauraNC:

Last year we stayed in Albergo Santa Chiara - based on the many recommendations on this site. While the hotel is not fancy - it is clean, comfortable, includes a nice breakfast - but most important you cannot beat its outstanding LOCATION!! We walked everywhere from there. It is very centrally located!

Our room was a quad room with 1 bathroom. I would inquire about the apartments they offer and whether or not they have 2 bathrooms. If they do not, I would opt for 2 adjoining rooms - 2 bathrooms will be very important especially as you are travelling with 3 teenage girls!

Also of note, we found a wonderful bruschetteria/wine bar down a side street facing the Pantheon. I'll have to look up the card I kept (with the name). Have a wonderful trip!!

Hello! this year I was in Rome with my husband and we've rented a flat in Ulysse agency: http://www.ulysseholidays.com
The flat was nice and clean and situated in few steps from Piazza Navona. I liked it very much! We'have left the flat the time we wanted, at 16.00, and not as in hotels, before 11.
