Our main goal is to see berlin! But is that to much time? We also want to see the rhine region and I know 6 days is not alot of time, but would it be possible to see some highlights of both? We would want to go to the rhine region to see those 2 famous castles (Whose names have slipped my mind) and the beauty of the region

No problem. In order to make the best of limited time, I would fly from Berlin, either to Cologne or to Frankfurt and then rent a car (cheap flights are available if you book early).

Although public transport is good in the region, I would drive a car: you are faster, more flexible and you are able to drive scenic roads.

The scenic section of the middle Rhine is between Wiesbaden and Bonn, with picturesque towns and castles on the slopes. Tho most scenic part is between Bingen/Rüdesheim and Koblenz.

See Eberbach Monastery, Rüdesheim and the Marksburg. You may include a short drive to the Mosel Valley where you find Burg Eltz (the scaffolding is gone). On a day with fine weather, you may board a boat (either on the Rhine or on the Mosel). A side trip to Trier might be interesting to see a bit of Roman history. Distances in that region are fairly short.

What two famous castles are you thinking of, Lifeisanadventure? The castles that most people associate with Germany are those of King Ludwig (e.g. Neuschwanstein) and his castles are all located in Bavaria--nowhere near the Rhine.

Be sure which castles you want to see before you make your plans--you don't want to end up in the wrong part of the country!

Neuchwanstein and Linderhoff?

They are in Bavaria.

Neuschwanstein and Linderhof are not castles at all. They are mockturtle soup. Germany has several thousands of real castles - anywhere in Germany. Along the Rhine and the Mosel you find some of the best ones.
