4/5 star hotel in London for romantic long weekend

My brother is flying to London for a romantic getaway with his girlfriend. He'd like to stay in a romantic "luxury" hotel, but has no idea what a good central location would be. He'd like to be centrally located, capable of sightseeing (Buckingham Palace, Tower of London, the London Eye, the Tate, the Natural History Museum, etc). He has a budget up to $700 per night, but of course wouldnt mind spending $400/500. He'd love to stay in a spacious room or suite (if possible).

If you could also recommend a few romantic restaurants, I'd appreciate it (budget open up to $200/pp). Let's just say this is a VERY special weekend for him.

Thanks!
Natalie

There is no "Central" location because all the places you've listed, are miles apart (Nat History museum is about 3-4 miles from Tower of London, for example). So, no matter where he stays, he will have to use the tube or bus to get to some of the sights.

I'd look at the hotels around Green Park, as that's a posh neighborhood. Has he looked on tripadvisor and see the hotel rankings?

For restaurants, I'd recommend Gordon Ramsay's Royal Hospital Rd restaurant.

I'd suggest without any hesitation the Stafford. It's small, intimate & like a country house in the city. It's right behind the Ritz. Tell him to check out the Carriage House rooms.

The background was white before but this is "snow blind" white and there's lots more of it!

Bob - I had problems posting earlier where I'd get the hourglass (a whirling circle with Firefox) forever. I'd simply refresh the screen using my bookmark to bring me back to this spot and my post would be there.

It's getting a bit better than it was 2 days ago. Please do not leave us!

Hi Nat,

If you like luxury boutique hotels check out Firmdale Hotels: www.firmdale.com

Or,

The Dorchester is considered one of London's best large luxury hotels: http://www.thedorchester.com/

I also agree with YK, you can't go wrong with Gordon Ramsey.

Enjoy your stay!

Gosh, the Stafford does look heavenly. I've stayed at the Dorchester and it's lovely but the Stafford looks more so. The Milestone is another one worth checking.

The Firmdale hotels are fantastic. I have stayed at the Soho, the Covent Garden and will be at the Charlotte Street in March. They do have some weekend specials which include breakast. Not inexpensive but beautifully done properties.
