3 Nights in Amsterdam

On 2 August, I am headed to Amsterdam for 3 nights with a friend (we are both college students finishing our studies in Grenoble). I have already done research on Amsterdam and know of the general tourist things to do, but am interested in suggestions. Favorite places to visit? Less expensive things to do? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you!

Rent bikes and go exploring (be careful of all the traffic, trams, pedestrians, though).

Canal boat tours

Van Gogh Museum

Vondelpark, especially Sunday afternoon

Eat Indonesian:
Puri Mas - http://www.purimas.nl/

Walk the canals, watch street entertainers, and watch your pockets!

Pick up a TIme Out Amsterdam guide. It's got great suggestions on what to do and how much it costs, and I like it because the nightlife and sightseeing recommendations are younger and hipper.

Ditto on Time Out suggestion, once you arrive. Vondelpark is a huge gorgeous place to go for free. I saw fascinating and edgy street performers (fire dancers) one evening on the square in Leidseplein district.

I suggest par-taking in the legal activities overthere that if done in the US you could go to jail for..if you know what i mean, and go to the Anne Frank house

KGL has already left the building!

But, if he or she is checking in, please give us a report on your life in Grenoble -- I did my junior year there, and would love to hear if it is as much fun as it used to be.
