3 Days in Rome

My spouse and I purchased a package on TravelZoo for Rome. We'll be there for three (3) days. Any advice on what to do/see while there for such a short while? We did Milan in November and had a great time, but I want some tips for things to do while in Rome.

Thanks

Oh my gosh, Sherri, where to begin? I'm going to presume you haven't been there before, so I'll tell you that the Vatican Museums, and the Borghese Gallery are musts. The Borghese re-opened this year after 14 (not a typo!) years of renovations. I'm going in a couple of weeks, and had my hotel get me a ticket to the Borghese. You may (and then again, you might not) be interested, if there on a Wednesday, in attending a papal audience. If you are, fax or phone your local Catholic archdiocese office. (They won't care if you aren't Catholic.) They will assist you in getting a ticket that you will pick up in when you're in Rome that will get you a good seat up front at the papal audience. So many other things...the Colosseum, the Imperial Forums, the Baths of Caracalla, Circus Maximus, the Capitoline Museums! The Roman Forum, the Golden House of Nero, the Palatine Museum!

Please go to www.twenj.com

Look at everything under Rome.

Ed (who maintained that site) passed away in October & Rome was one of his very favorite destinations. He would never have steered you wrong, and he knew Rome like the back of his hand.

Also, if you can pull up old (not very old, either)threads here on this site, both Elaine and Dean have some great advice about Rome, and both made fairly recent trips.

I hope you have a great time!

Buon Viaggio,
BC

The Villa Borghese renovation was completed in 1997 after thirteen years of closure.
