OK This is the itinerary, we are staying at villa saint martin, next to canal st. martin. we will have museum passes, and this is my 13th trip to paris so I don't spend alot of time in the museums, I usually focus on one artist. So here it is:


We will arrive in Paris late Thursday afternnoon, Feb 19th, we will probably get to our hotel at the earliest 5:00, we will be excited but very tired~!! I think it would be good to check out the area around our hotel, see the canal saint martin, eat at one of the cute little bistros overlooking the water. Get to bed early so we can start the day refreshed on /friday.

Feb 20th Friday We could take the metro straight Notre Dame, St. Chapelle, check out the Ill St. Louis, have lunch on the Island [maybe a creperie] Work our way toward Musee D' Orsay, there is a cool restaraunt at musee d' orsay when you get your fill of Toulouse Laurtrec we need to have a wine break there!, Musee Orangerie, walk around have some wine maybe at cafe marley and then check out louvre in the evening, have dinner in that area by the Louvre


Feb 21st Saturday musee cluny, latin quarter, pantheon, stroll around luxembourg gardens, see what time leaves us with eating and drinking wine in cafes in this area, St. Germain area
evening maybe climb arch d' triomphe
I personally do not like Champs- Élysées to touristy so maybe eat closer to the Eiffel tower?

Feb 22nd, last day in Paris, there is a Montmartre paris walk that would be fun, we could go to Pere Lachaise, or Nissom Cammondo, Parc Monceau then we have to leave for the airport around 7:00.

Since you don't spend lots of time in any one museum doing a couple a day looks fine. Do you want to do any churches or have you done lots of them already.

On Saturdays the Cluny has guided tours at 11:30 and a Medieval concert at 4:00. I did a concert last year and really enjoyed it. All types of strange instruments. The concert is included in your museum entrance but you have to ask for a special ticket (really a piece of paper they give you at the ticket desk).

Have you ever taken the Notre Dame tour? It lasts about 2 hours and is excellent (and free).

I liked the Nissem de Camondo museum but liked the Jacquemart-Andre better. The J-A contains Renaissance art as well as period furnishings.

I always peek in a church when I am strolling the neighborhoods.

The only Notre Dame tour you could do is Saturday at 2:30. The others are Wednesday and Thursday at 2:00. Half the tour is outside and discusses both ND and Gothic church generally. Then you go inside for the remainder of the tour. The tour got to go inside the choir which seems to be normally closed since there's a railing around the entrance.

When you are by the Pantheon see St-Etienne-du-Mont with it's lovely rood screen (most of them have been removed from churches).

Last year I went to Val de Grace which had been on my list for a long time. It's lovely and I'm glad I got to see it. Gorgeous altar (I managed to get a photo before I was told that there is no photography - I didn't see any signs stating no photos.) You have to pay 5 Euro since you access it through a museum. This might be a bit off track for you with your limited time in Paris.

The concert schedule at the Cluny Museum has changed. Now concerts are on selected Sundays at 4:00 and selected Mondays at 12:30, and there is a charge of €6, according to the website (www.musee-moyenage.fr, under activites, then evenements, then l'heure musicale). The information does not seem to be available on the English version of the website.

There used to be just one group, Ultreia, that did all the concerts, but now there are several different ones.

In February, it appears that the only concerts are February 8 and 9, so it seems that unfortunately you will not be there for one.

Thanks for checking that Nikki and setting me straight. It's too bad that they're charging for the concerts. I don't think the concert info was ever on the English site.

hi, pj, I can relate to not wanting the usual attractions on your 13th trip.

We just got back yesterday, attended the ballet gala, les Etoiles de XXI-me siecle, where my friends from ABT performed.

A few thoughts you might find useful. Jacqumart-Andre with brunch on Sunday beat the most exalted reviews... be there by 11:30 to avoid the line to the cafe. No reservations accepted. Another pleasant surprise, if you have time on the left bank, was the top of Institute du Monde Arabe, 9th floor. One of the best views, IMO, great mint tea and sweets. I also liked the exposition at the museum below, from Magreb to Iran and Afganistan - happens to be my thing.

The Jewish museum in Marais, a short walk from Centre Pompidou was another treat, they now have a collection of paintings unclaimed from WWII.

If you are at parc Monceau, it might make sense to stop by musee Cernuschi, the entrance was free last Saturday. There was a nice exposition of Japanese prints and collages.
