3 day beach vacation after Barcelona - where?

OK, now we keep changing our minds...
Where can we go, in close proximity to Barcelona, which has beautiful beaches, great scenery and a little nightlife?

I was thinking Mallorca (Majorca)? Anywhere else to consider?

Please help!

Assume you aren't into the "club scene" and if not, then avoid Ibiza.

I'm not sure I'd consider Majorca to be in "close proximity" to Barcelona.

Is Sitges is too close/too edgy?

I rather enjoyed Costa Brava, 1 hour or so north of Barcelona and up, although a bit crowded in August. Tossa, in particular, was very pretty, but the beach is not sandy, gravel and pebbles. It's known as Chagal's "blue paradise". Figueras/Dali museum is a bit further North, if you haven't been.

Hey there! Great replies! No, we are not club people, but we like eating dinner late and hanging out late. I've never of Sitges. Maybe I'll look up for more info.

Costa Brava sounds great also. Can we travel there by train or plane?

-not sure. For us it was a one-hour or so drive by car north from Barcelona. I would be surprised if there isn't at least a bus service from Barcelona.

Might I suggest reading a guide book that covers Barcelona and Spain. You could probably borrow one from your library or spend some time in a Borders or B&N. You really sound like you have no idea about Barcelona and where it is and doing alittle reading will help you ask more specific questions. This will in turn help us help you in a more specific way.
