For your first leg from Manchester Airport to Keswick, your DH is right as the nearest station is Penrith, although it's 18 miles away. The cost of the journey from the airport varies depending on how soon you book and whether you want a first class or economy (2nd) class ticket. According to the website www.trainline.com the price varies from around £12 up to £89 depending on your choices, how soon you book and availability of the cheaper tickets.
You also need to take care that you select a direct journey, or you'll have to change trains somewhere like Wigan or Preston. If it's Wigan you may also have to change stations.
The bus from Penrith to Keswick takes about 45 minutes and costs £6.50 per head. Whether you'll need a cab depends on where your accommodation is.
I do have to say though that after an overnight from the US, that's an awful lot of trains, buses and dragging luggage between them for my liking.
