I know there are pairs of couples who really enjoy sharing apartments together when they travel, but I wouldn't in a place as romantic as that part of the Mediterranean can be, especially not an anniversary celebration.

Please note I am not criticizing anybody for recommending it. I'm just pointing out a consideration that would make me reject the suggestion.
