Justairports.com is great. But my guess is they would charge more than £40 to go that far east. Perhaps as much as £50-£55, but still worth it if you have much luggage. It would be door-to-door.

Get a quote, they might be cheaper.

But if you can manage your luggage through multiple transfers/stairs/long-ish walks . . . Pack light . . . The tube will be much cheaper.

I love this forum! How did you know that I WOULD BE PACKING TWO SUITCASES? We both travel light, but her requests fill one carry-on. So I am planning to fit everything into two rolling 17" suitcases, carry-on size. She plans to meet me with a loaded oyster card at the airport. She lives on Mansfield Way and knows her stops. She didn't know about the railcard and I think it will give her additional discounts with her oyster card so she is thinking of buying the student card as she will be in London untill June. Does that sound like a good deal?

>>She lives on Mansfield Way and knows her stops<<

The thick plottens. I can't find a Mansfield Way anywhere in relation to QMU. There's a Westfield Way which links the main campus buildings to the student village along the canal. If that's the place, then it is indeed Mile End station you want, and there are plenty of shops and services between the tube station and there, including a Sainsbury's Local and Tesco Express, and several cycle hire stations nearby.

Someone more expert on the 2for1s might be able to advise on the best deal, but since they are discounts for two people, I'm assuming both will need a valid National Rail ticket for the day(s) on which you want to use the 2for1s. This would argue for your daughter either having a National Rail travelcard (NOT on the Oyster, which is not in the scheme) or going out of her way to buy a ticket for that particular day, in case you get asked to show it. For your daughter's other week, she can put a travelcard value on the Oystercard.

Both people need to have the paper tickets to qualify for the deal...whether the person at the till checks for both is another matter!

Please clarify where your daughter lives.

My AtoZ shows lots of Mansfield something's, but no Mansfield 'way' anywhere in greater London (though it is a few years old and there might be a new street - though unlikely)

My guess is Patrick has it right and you mean Westfield Way . ..
