Possibly.

I would only drive to and from Lake Como, take the ferry around for the full day I would have there.

The time I visited, I stayed for a week so it was good to get a week pass for the mid-lake ferries. Not sure if they have something like that for one-day.

Or maybe skip Lake Como and look at exploring Asti or Alba, in addition to Aosta and Turin.

Mainly I'm trying to get an idea for how many days each in the Dolomites and Aosta/Piedmont.

I know that a lot of the services like cable cars still aren't open in the Dolomites and I'm assuming it's the same around Aosta. But I can't change the dates of the trip and there are some that are open.

I visited Mt. Pilatus as a day trip from Luzern a month ago. Apparently in the spring and summer, you can go up to the peak by cable car/cog wheel train and then hike back down. Hoping to find that kind of setup in both the Val Gardena and Val d'Aosta.
