will be going to Paris next tues.
1) - is it worth buying and mailing home french wine or is it too expensive. Problem is that we are traveling on the Moscow and don't want to carry with us into Russia. Will it be too expensive to send to the US?

2) - I have very comfortable open toed sandels - read lots, lots of comments about shoes......what gives? Will I be sorry if I don't bring covered toed shoes with me? (Dresses can be worn with sandels)....

Ana,

How would you get the wine shipped? By mail? By HDL, Fedex? Wines usually don't travel well, due to the temperature, pressure changes. Besides, if the bottle crashes? What a mess.

About sandals, I guess it depends on the sandals, and also when are you going. Are you wearing them in Russia, too? Remember, it's colder out there. Would you wear socks with the sandals? Or are you just flying on AirFlot airline, and making a connection in Moscow? Anyway, whatever shoes you wear, the most important is that you walk comfortably, and the second main concern should be that they match your outfit.

Surlok

I just returned from Paris (first week in August), wore sandals all of the time. I also read all the concerns about wearing the correct shoes. Also, saw many people during the day wearing the forbidden athletic shoes. For me comfortable is correct. Paris is a beautiful city to walk through. The weather was perfect for sandals. If you're more comfortable walking in sandals, then wear sandals, you won't be alone. I have no idea why everyone makes such a big deal about this.

Most states do not allow you to ship wine, first of all. Then it is so expensive to ship it just isn't worth it.
Take your sandals and change when you get where you are going to dress up. Better bring some full shoes, especially to Russia.

I'll be in Europe in Mid-September till Mid-October. Would it be too cold in France and Italy to wear sandals?
