2 night stopover between barcelona and san sebastian
I will be in spain in the middle of June 2010: 7 days in Barcelona and Catalunya.
7 days in San Sebastian ( Guipuzcoa)
I will be driving a car from Barcelona to San Sebastian.
My week in Barcelona is from June 17 to June 23.
My week in San Sebastian is from June 25 to July 2.
There are 2 nights in between these cities.
I know that it is a 6 hour drive from Barcelona to San Sebastian.
QUESTION: Is any place worthwhile, interesting, enticing to stop over for 2 nights between Barcelona and San Sebastian?
Or maybe i should tack on these extra nights to Barcelona or San Sebastian?
Thank you for any input

I wouldn't miss the opportunity to visit the Rioja in June for a couple of nights, that is if you are interested in wine. From there you head north through Pamplona.
The other option would be to head up to Huesca and Jaca before heading west on the N-240 to Pamplona and San Sebastian-Donostia.
It's a short drive either way, but there is a lot to see along the way.

I would take Robert's advice. I have heard good things about Logrono and/or Laguardia. Conversely I might take nights off Barcelona and head straight to San Sebastian, it is an amazing city. We just spent 5 nights there and didn't have enough time to explore all of the beautiful towns on the north coast from SS to Santander. We only got as far as Getaria. I might even skip Barcelona altogether after visiting the Basque country.

I am a Goya enthusiast, so my recommendation would have to be Zaragoza. There's a small art Museum in Fuendetodos, near Zaragoza, Francisco de Goya y Luciente's birthplace; but the real beauty is in the Catedral of the Virgin de Pilar where Frescoes by Goya still decorate the interior of the dome.
It may be a little off a straight line drive from Barcelona to San Sebastian; but it should be well worth it.

I agree with Nedsireland 100%. That is exactly, what I would do. It is off the straight line, but it really is worth it.
I love Cantabria and Asturias, but usually less is more while travelling! Barcelona - Zaragoza (and Fuendetodos) - San Sebastian, sounds perfect to me in this time frame.

I'd choose Zaragoza and San Millán de la Cogolla (La Rioja). This village is famous for its twin monasteries, Yuso and Suso, which were declared a World Heritage Site in 1997.
