2 DAYS 1 NIGHT in Copenhagen. Any suggestions?

We will be here on NCL Dream Sept 6 & 7. Can we find enough things to do for two days? Should we buy a 24 hr pass or can we comfortable walk most of the area.

Any suggestions on what do to in the evening.

I have read Rick Steves' book and thought we would stroll Stroget and Nyhavn, and try to find the less touristy streets. Take the Hop-on-Hop-off bus. See Amalienborg and Christiansborg Castle ruins.

Has anyone walked Christiania?

You won't overlook Tivoli, will you? Enchanting, even if you just eat at a restaurant or have a drink and walk around. That's how you should spend your one evening.

Just back from there, and there is certainly enough to do for 2 days, and you can certainly do quite a bit just walking. The Stroget is okay, although quite long and goes from over-the-top posh at the Kongs Nytorv end to kind of chintzy at the Tivoli end -- best part are the humorous sculptures along the way. I would not want to devote more than a half-day to that at most.

Better might be to walk from Kongs Nytorv toward the park with the Little Mermaid -- some slightly less touristy and better shops a few blocks in from the water, plus all the embassies and the palace in the same general vicinity.
Not too far from all that is the Rosenborg, which has the crown jewels (it's not like the British jewels, but a decent sight including the royal rooms, etc.)

The art museum is lovely, has a very nice cafe (a bit pricey) in it, and is very do-able in a couple of hours at most. (It's down near Tivoli.)

My favorite memory of C'hagen, however, was a half-day trip on the train up to Helsingor/Elsinore to see "Hamlet's" castle and then back 2 stops on the same train route to see Louisianna -- yes, a modern art museum but just a beautiful setting with sculpture garden over the water and, again, a great cafe with wonderful view.

You'll have plenty to do.
Off the Stroget, go to the top of the Round Tower -- great views out over the city. We loved Amalienborg & its gardens. Enjoyed the Christiansborg Castle ruins. Generally walked everywhere we went in the City (stayed at Admiral near Nyhavn), but after midnight coming out of Tivoli we did hop a taxi back to hotel. Do see Tivoli - we went both during the day & again early to late evening and don't regret a moment: ballet for little children in the Peacock Theatre, etc. Just stand and watch. Have some great morning pastry from shops on Stroget. Poke your head into the Carsborg Museum (near Tivoli)& see its atrium even if you don't want to purchase a ticket to see the museum. It's a very enjoyable city.

I spent a week in Copenhagen last summer, so the weather should be comparable to what you'll experience in early September....I agree (for the most part) with Mr. "Anderson"'s posted reply.....I would add a few things to consider: 1) Christiania is a weird, weird place,,,,but if you're ready for it it can be interesting. (Just make sure you look out for all the dogs!) 2) Strolling Stroget and Nyhavn would be fun to do, and you can spend as much or as little time there as you want. 3) Tivoli is a "must"...its really a big part of Copenhagen's personality...and FUN too! 4) The bus is a good idea to get your bearings, and the castles are worth doing. 5) No need, IMHO, to buy any type of pass, unless you are avid museum goers...and you should try very hard to see the Astronomical Clock in the City Hall....it keeps time for something like the next 35,000 years! Quite extraordinary. 6) Unlikely that you can find sufficient time to get to any "day-trip" type places, but you may want to consider: the WW2 museum near the harbor, the Carlsberg brewery, the Royal Copenhagen factory (my wife really enjoyed that), and a couple of "fish sandwiches"......Enjoy your couple of days there, you'll have PLENTY to do and you'll wish you had more time....Best Wishes
