2 day trip to Geneva area from Beaune

I would like to drive from Beaune, France to Switzerland for a short 2 night stay. Can anyone recommend a quaint village close to Geneva that would give us the Switzerland feel without the city life. We would like to stay within a 3 hour drive time.

Easy answer!! Vevey or Montreux. they are both right on Lac Leman with absolutely stunning views and along the lakeside 'quai' (promonade). only 1 hour outside Geneva. this is the French-speaking part of Switzerland, so has that kind of feel. day trip out to Gruyeres if you like or the Lavaux wine region.

Do you want a lakeside setting, or a mountain setting with views of snow & some lifts up to high peaks with views of the mountain ranges?? What time of year???

Leaving to head that way on Sept. 20th! Can't believe it is only a matter of weeks away. Would love mountain setting. Need hotel advice based on your recommendation!

Two years ago, we spent 2 weeks in a Gite on Lake Annecy, then 3 weeks in the Franche Comte area of France, then spent 6 days in several different locations in Switzerland - before a day at Yvoire, France, and departing from Geneva.

Our favorite location in Switzerland was in Grimentz at the Hotel de Moiry.

Grimentz is a wonderful mountain village - take a guided tour offered by the tourist office. Usually, we just visit Switzerland for the scenery and mountain venues - but Grimentz was really captivating. The Valley d'Anniviers, where it is located, is very scenic - everything you would expect in Switzerland.

It is a little over 4 hrs from Beaune, but if you really want to stay in a cute not-too-touristy village in Switzerland, then this would be a good choice.
