2.5 days in Geneva

This summer, I will be taking a month and a half with my new husband to travel in Europe. We will be starting in Iceland to hike, drive on the Ring Road/Golden Circle and see Reykjavik/Blue Lagoon. We will then fly to Geneva, stay a couple of nights, and then hike in the alps from Chamonix to Switzerland on the Haute Route. As we have been to Zermatt twice already, we plan to just spend one night in Zermatt and then head to Paris to see the city and fly back home. We will have 2.5 days in Geneva before we leave for Chamonix. Is there anything that surprised you about the city you would recommend seeing? We research before every trip mainly using Rick Steves and Youtube videos. We see a lot of touristy stuff on the videos and we would be interested in learning about any experiences or sights to see that aren't as touristy or don't have many crowds.

I found the archeological space under Saint Pierre Cathedral interesting -- more interesting than I expected.

FWIW, I think you'll find many more options if you consult a different guidebook -- perhaps the Rough Guide.

For some other thoughts, you might look at post # 28 of my trip report:
My delightful sampling of Switzerland’s gems, with many thanks

Geneva has tons of museums, among them the famous Red Cross Museum.
The panorama from Mount Saleve (bus plus cableway from city center) is stunning. There are hiking trails too.

There is no need to end your hike at Zermatt. Go from Graechen to Saas Fee instead
