1st time to Paris, 2 full days - what to do & see?
Looking for advise on your favorite things to do and see while in Paris, keeping in mind my length of visit.
Will be staying in the Latin Quarters area, young couple.
So far my must-see's are: Eiffel Tower (at night); Notre Dame; and St. Chapelle.
What else would you add for historical must-see's as well as night time fun, drink and food.
Thanks!

Maybe a bit more information on arrival times, departure times, etc.
You did not mention museums, so I'll assume lower down your list (plus no time).
Group things together.
I could see Eiffel Tower firsht thing in the morning (approach from across the river trocadero Metro Station), Metro to Etoile (Arc de triomphe), walk down Champs Elysee. Place de la Concorde, Place Vendome, Tuileries Gardens, Palais Royal, outside of Louvre. Big chunk of a day. Metro to Marais and go to Place des Vosges. Eating, shopping, bars in area.
Next group would be St Chapelle, Notre Dame and Ile St Louis. Lunch on Ile St Louis, good shopping. Walk along Seine, cross over to Left bank and walk along Blvd St Germain. Plenty of shops, street market, restaurants, bars. There is a thread here on jazz bars, some in this area. Could even do Musee du Moyen Age , small, built over roman ruins of baths.
One night...perhaps a Seine Cruise. Maybe after the St Germain walk and dinner. I'd take the last cruise of the night, because city is lit up. Vedettes du Pont Neuf is in this area (western tip of Ile de la Cite)
Two good days.

Hello Parker,
I am in the middle of planning our 11 day trip to France. Just doing the reading and planning is a fun experience. Here is how I went about the process.
1. Read the trip reports in the forum. You will find some reports that fit for you and some that don't. Your two days in Paris will be different from everyone else's based on what you like to do. The trick is finding others who like to do what you like to do and then learning from their experiences.
2. Search the forum using some key words and you will be amazed that just about everything you want to know is already posted. There are hotel threads, restaurant threads, what to wear threads (very funny stuff there), transportation threads, what should I do threads...and on and on.
3. Then...ask specific questions after you have done numbers 1 & 2 above. You will get some fantastic responses.
To start you out...do a search for kerouac and FrenchMystiqueTours. They have some amazing reports and suggestions for great stuff to see and do.
I wish you all the best as you plan.

A fun place to go in the evening in the Latin Quarter is the Caveau des Oubliettes, 52 rue Galande. Live music in the dungeon every night (I think it starts at 10 PM, but line up early in the upstairs bar with a real guillotine so you can get a seat downstairs when the doors open).
For restaurants, in the Latin Quarter I like Le Petit Prince de Paris, 12 rue Lanneau. Also Le Pre Verre, 19 rue du Sommerard. More expensive, Itineraires, 10 rue de Pontoise.
There is a lively scene with young people in the evening around Place de la Contrescarpe.
These are just in the Latin Quarter; of course there are other places all over Paris.

" vjpblovesitaly" I don't have time for a guide book. I leave in 3 weeks and am going to 3 countries with 5 stops. I use resources such as fodors.com and other online tools to get straight to the point input from people who have been there. Not from a book that in many cases provides reviews of companies which have PAID to be in the book. Sorry to be a bit snarky, but obviously I post on this board for a reason
"Nikki" Caveau des Oubliettes sounds awesome! A dungeon! Thanks!
"Michael Paris" Thanks for grouping things together in terms of areas - this is helpful and allows me to further research things we may want to see which we don't have to go too far out of the way for!
