1st time there- honeymoon
My fiance and I are going to Ireland for our honeymoon. This will be for about 2 weeks in July. I've just started to try and research the trip, but all the info is pretty overwelming. It's our first time there and I would love any suggestions. I would also like to plan a nice surprise for her.

Agreed - it seems overwhelming at the outset. But...have you travelled in the states, planning where you'd go/what to do, etc? It's really NO different overseas, esp when you're in a country where language is no hurdle. The Irish are fabulous people -- the warmth and charm is almost a cliche, but it's the truth of it. Read your guidebooks, then read 'em again and a route and priorities will start to emerge for you. Don't overplan. If you want to go the small B&B route, Ireland is the place for it. On the other hand, you may prefer to line up some hotel lodgings, for which you'll want to have reservations in advance. There are tons of internet sites to help you choose. Good luck!

Kevin,
Just returned from Ireland. It was everything we had hoped. Just wanted to tell you about the most romantic, remote place we stayed. It was located about 30 minutes from Killarney (on the Kerry penninsula) outside the small village of Killorglin. It was Hotel Ard na Sidhe (Peace and Tranquility)- Fax 066/9769282. It only has 19 tastefuly done bedrooms, lovely gardens and delicious food. Hope this isn't considered an advertisment, it isn't meant as one. Just wanted everyone to know how wonderful it was! Congratulations and good luck!

Best wishes! A honeymoon in ireland - I'm jealous.

I have been to Ireland more than 40 times. There are some lovely country house hotels that are quite romantic. You may want to stay in a castle for a night. I know of some that won't break your budget. Combine those with a few nights at B&B's and you'll have a wonderful time!
