Our trip is over. It was a great success. Our blog has 99 posts, but they are easy to skim by headline. We ran into two celebrities, walked into five TV and movie sets and had front row seats for Pope Francis public audience.. Had great weather: one day a little rain and rain during two flights, but that was it. Came back fairly refreshed despite the whirlwind tour. Not for everyone, but it can be done. Here is a summry of statistics from our final blog post:

We traveled on 11 airplanes. This included five separate airlines: WOW, Wizz, Norwegian Air, British Airways and Easy Jet. The latter was our go-to airline within Europe. Although we looked at multiple discount carriers for each leg of our trip, they came out on top for fares and schedules nearly every time.

We noticed little difference in service or quality of planes between the one high price leg of our trip on British Airways and all the discount carriers.

In addition to the 11 airplanes, we took 32 trains and metros, 9 buses, 8 taxis and had two rental cars. We put nearly 1,000 miles on the rental cars that we drove in Austria, Germany and Italy. And, we walked a total of 300 miles or an average of 10 miles per day.

As for lodging, we stayed in 13 different places over our 30 nights. We booked 9 places through airbnb, all apartments and none a disappointment. We used booking.com for three places, two of them hotels and one apartment. And, we used Expedia for one apartment. We had kitchens in all but one place, but, because of the limited stays, set up and cooked in only a couple of them.

We connected with two family members and five friends while overseas..

So far, the blog has generated more than 5,500 page views from 485 separate people in 21 countries, mostly from the US, but from Finland, India, Australia, Pakistan and United Arab Emirates, among others. Many of these were from friends and family, but some, including other bloggers, found our posts through various search engines.
