Girlspytravel,

Thanks for the suggestions!

Did you have their 95 tasting menu or did you eat a la carte?

Hey Monica,

Great question. I'll be in Paris this summer and was also looking for a recommendation. I think I'll try your restaurant. How did you get in touch w/ Les Ombres to make a reservation?

I just came back from Paris and went to Cafe Lenotre on the Champs Elysee...overall not my absolute best dinner, but the meal itself...I had veal was the best entree. It is a beautiful restaurant under a glass greenhouse on the park portion of the Champs. Overall, a nice splurge...plus I was with 2 others and managed to get out for about 175 euros, so for two, I am sure you could manage it nicely.

redwoodcitymom, my friend is going to call to make the reservations. She's been trying this a.m. but their line is busy. We'll keep trying. The number is 01-47-53-68-00.

Okay, reservations are set! My friend made them and stated she had a hard time spelling her last name, so practice up before you call! She stated the gentleman spoke very little English.

Monica, enjoy your dinner! We hope to go in June so I look forward to your report. BTW, we made your Limoncello recipe a couple of years ago as Christmas prezzies and our friends still ask for it, so thanks!

My recipes are on my web site at http://www.luvtotravel.homestead.com/home.html Click on "Recipes" on the left side of the page. Hmmm, I should go make some!

Yes, I'll provide a full report of my dinner!

Our favorite Michelin one star restaurant is Vin sur Vin, just across the street from the Tour Eiffel. A tiny place; it's like dining in someone's fine home. The Vin Carte is extensive but they do have some excellent wines at reasonable prices. I believe the prix-fixe menu is still at 65E.

Monica,

I might suggest that you confirm your reservation via telephone the day before. Not sure about Les Ombres's policy, but I know that that is required at other high end restaurants, like Jules Verne.

Possibly not necessary, but why take a chance?

Have a memorable meal!

For a great dinner in an amazing building, I vote for Le Train Blue in the Gare de Lyon bus terminal. I was a little skeptical but it was amazing.

Gare de Lyon is a train station, not bus terminal.

Thanks for the correction. Can't always be thinking clearly. Nonetheless, it is a wonderful restaurant - food and decor.
