Your trip is very similar to what we are planning. I enjoyed reading about your experience.
We are scheduled to fly in to Dublin and out of Edinburgh. I think we might need a flight from Shannon to Edinburgh. Do you have a recommendation for making the transition from Ireland to Scotland?

Hi! I was wondering if you could tell me your travel itinerary. I see that you went from Boston to Shannon, drove and then flew from Dublin to Glasgow and then just drove everywhere else again? Which ferry did you take?
thanks!

Hi KATIEHAB,
Fabulous report - very well organized with specific details and suggestions. I see a great deal of traveling in your future. And your former English teachers would be very proud of you, trust me.
How did I miss this great report before? Oh, I guess that was when I was in London. Thanks again.

hansenamy: Welcome to Fodors. You might not have noticed, but the trip report is 2 years old. While Katiehab may see your post and answer your questions . . . you will do better if you start a new thread of your own with your own specific questions and get input from other Scotland experts.
BTW -- the ferry she talks about is the ferry from Mallaig on the mainland to Armadale on Slye.
