In the Interlaken area I believe in the high Alps there is a thunder storm somewhere just about every day and can come up rather suddently - always brings rain gear with yous.

" I have not heard about this route into Jungfrau region via Meiringen"
Meiringen IS in the Bernese Oberland from where you can easily cross the Alps over different Passes:
Susten Pass (Post Bus)
Grimsel Pass (Post Bus)>

Indeed Meiringen, home of meringue, is in the Berner Oberland - just off Lake Brienz and by Reichenbach Falls - there is a popular Three Pass Tour by Swiss Postal bus from Meiringen and back to Meiringen that goes over the Susten, Grimsel and Furkha passes in a loop - I did it a few years back and it was awesome.

A neat way to reach Meiringen from Grindelwald is to take the Grindelwald Bus to Schwandi (sp?) then a postal bus down past Reichenbach Falls to Meiringen.

neckervd - do you know if Wengen/Grindelwald to Jungfraujoch is 50% off with the Half-Fare Card? Is everything that moves in Switzerland 50% off without exceptions - I can't seem to track that down but believe it is so.

any knowledge you have about that is appreciated!

Cheers

Rather SCHWARZWALDALP than Schwaendi.

The trip is nice, but the connections at Meiringen (for Grimsel, Susten and Engstlenalp - Titlis) are usually extremely bad

Thanks neckervd - So I gather that the Jungfrujoch train is half-off since it is not on your list of things not covered - again thanks for taking time!
