1 Week in Paris

Hello all,
In May 2006 my partner and I will be in Paris for 1 week, first time. Can anyone give advice on best way to spend the week, daytrips etc.
Thankyou

Start with the destinations tab on the orange bar above. Do some research to see what kinds of things appeal to you. Do some searches on this site (Paris, Paris Itinerary, Paris hotels, Paris restaurants, day trips from Paris, etc.) After you have an idea of the kinds of things you want to do - museums, gardens, churches, walking, sidewalk cafes - come back with more details and we will be happy to reply with our suggestions.

For a first trip to Paris, if you plan to go to museums, you should look into the museum pass, called the Carte Musee, which is sold at the museums which accept it and at metro stations. This allows you to avoid the lines, which can be especially long at the Musee d'Orsay and at Versailles, and sometimes at the Louvre. You still have to wait at some sites to go through security, notably at Sainte Chapelle, but it is worth it to avoid wasting time, even if it does not end up saving money. It is available for one, three or five days. If you do a lot of intensive museum viewing, it saves money as well as time, and it does provide the incentive to pop in to some spots as you pass by that you might skip if you were paying for them separately.

My thought is this: you want to go on vacation, and considering all the choices you could make, you chose Paris. Please tell us why.
(what appeals to you about visiting Paris?)

I tell everyone to make a list of things they want to see in Paris, prioritize it and you will probably see 1/2 of your list. I lost count on how many times I've been there and I still find new places to go and see everytime I am there.
