1 day monte carlo/nice
We are taking a european cruise in May and will be stopping in Monte Carlo from 7:00am to 1:00am. We have seen both Monte Carlo & Nice but this is a first trip for our travelling companions. We have booked so many shore excursions that we were going to do this port on our own, but I am having second thougths. I would like to take the train to Nice for the Old Town and possibly a bus trip to Eze and be back in Monte Carlo for dinner. I know it's alot - has anyone done this or something similar. The cruise line does have a 4 hour trip to Nice & Eze, but I'm wondering it's too hurried. Thanks for any help you can offer

I think your schedule allows you plenty of time to do your side trips on your own. Dinner in Monte Carlo should be done late, anyway. Why not make reservations for 9:30 or 10 p.m. - then you only have to worry about catching the train in Nice around 8:45 or so, which would give you ALL day in Nice and Eze.

There is a Hertz car rental agency right newar the cruise port. About a 3 min. walk-when we were there in Nice we rented a car for the day-picked it up at8am and returned by 6-7pm and drove into EZE,St Paul DE Vence and Nice and were able to do it all. Just do dinner late,as dress in Monte Carlo is dressy if you want to go into the FAMOUS CASINO-so make sure husband wears coat and tie or they won't let you in. If you haven't been to st.paul de Vence--highly recommend it--museum Gallerie de Machte(sp.) is the main supplier of Miro artwork and is based in St.PaulDe Vence--whole town is charming, hilly, cute shops etc...Which ship will you be on?

Thanks for your reply Andrea. I know the train from Monte Carlo to Nice is about 20 minutes, but I don't know much about transportation from Nice to Eze. I'd like to have an idea of where to catch a bus and aprrox. how long it takes to reach Eze, if you or anyone out there can help thanks much
